Beyond the Dream: A Celebration of Courage  

Featuring: LORRAINE TOUSSANT, of Lifetime's "Any Day Now", HECTOR ELIZONDO, of "Pretty Woman," "Chicago Hope," "Tortilla Soup", CARL ANDERSON, musical artist, NIKI HARIS, musical artist 

Also: ROBIN TOMA, LA Commission on Human Relations, MARIA ELENA DURAZO, Local 11, BOB ERLENBUSCH, Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness and EISHA MASON, Center for the Advancement of Nonviolence.   

And see the ANGEL ISLAND ART EXHIBIT (the experience of Asian American immigrants detained off Angel Island near San Fransciso) by Cindy Suriayani.

A Season for Nonviolence  
Los Angeles 2002 will: 
  • Conduct a 64 day educational campaign using media, community action, education, dialogue and arts to build awareness, understanding, knowledge, skills, relationships and passion for nonviolence.
  • Honor individuals and organizations who are successfully using nonviolent means to empower individuals and communities and 
  • Inspire other individuals and organizations to do likewise.
  
When you Adopt-a-Day of the Season for Nonviolence you agree to contribute an event that speaks to the principles, issues, strategies and culture of nonviolence and peace.

A Season for Nonviolence, January 30 - April 4, is a national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities. Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of  Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this international event honors their vision for an empowered, nonviolent world.
